    Artemis

    Artemis is a track designed for children that can speak and understand enough Greek to be able to participate in a Greek taught environment. The primary focus is enhancing the child’s Greek vocabulary as well as teaching proper grammar and syntax. Classes meet twice a week for two hours (or one and a half hour for pre-kinder garden) each time.

    Students identify elements of art (color, shape/form, space), images and symbols, and can color them when given their outlined images. They recognize some of the letters of the alphabet and their sounds and can trace the letters, paint pictures expressing ideas about family and environment.Express likes/dislikes, be able to greet and to respond to greetings, and communicate effectively through simple phrases. 

    Students repeat what they have practiced and acquired in Pre-Kindergarten. In addition they will practice the following: 

    Recognize most of the alphabet and letter sounds, put letters together to form syllables and small words.Use short phrases, learned words, simple commands and questions when speaking. Describe personal experiences and attempt to answer questions based on stories. 

    Students expand their ability to perform all the functions developed in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. 

    Demonstrate increasing fluency and control of vocabulary, communicate effectively with some pattern of error,express their needs and begin to provide information. 

    Read and understand short texts, create simple sentences when writing. 

    Has complete knowledge of the alphabet, the diphthongs, “I am”, “I have” in Present tense, the personal pronouns, the articles and form simple sentences. 



    Students expand their ability to perform all the functions developed in previous levels. Narrate and understand narration in the present, past, and future, identify feelings and emotions, choose appropriate vocabulary for familiar topics. 

    Express simple messages, feelings, thoughts when writing, correctly write the diphthongs and use the punctuation symbols.

    Students expand their ability to perform all the functions developed in previous levels. Use strings of related sentences when speaking, express and understand opinions, can choose appropriate vocabulary for familiar topics, and re-narrate stories. 

    Write simple messages, learn some simple rules of syllabification and create simple paragraphs when writing. Able to understand and retain most key ideas and some supporting details when reading and listening. 




    In this level students expand their ability to perform all the functions performed in the previous levels. The objective is for students to complete most of the key language fields (in grammar, speaking, and writing) that are important for their efficient communication in Greek. 




    In this level students mainly revise all the knowledge that was acquired in previous levels. The objective is to clarify all the language aspects and be exposed to more authentic material. Can engage in conversations with few significant patterns of error and use a wide range of appropriate vocabulary. Express their ideas and beliefs coherently. Acquire knowledge and new information from comprehensive, authentic texts when reading 




    Students complete their basic education in Greek language. At this level students should be able to apply their language skills comfortably when writing, speaking or completing grammar activities for a language certificate exam. 

    Use culturally appropriate language, characterized by a wide range of vocabulary, with few errors. Students can create a series of coherent paragraphs under a specific topic. At this level students can comprehend complex ideas and most supporting details when reading or listening
